West Philadelphia
About West Philadelphia
Raised above the rest of the city, Western Philly?s elevated plateau allows a beautiful view of the Central City skyline from almost any point in the area. The west end of Philadelphia is known for its historic town homes and rustic neighborhoods. Fairmount Park and the Philadelphia Zoo (actually the oldest zoo in the country) also keep this end of the city attractive and exciting to visit. Singles and families alike can look forward to spending a relaxing yet enjoyable day here on the west side. The University of Pennsylvania isn?t far from either, so a pertinent amount of young scholars trickle down into the area and help provide it with community service activities and events as well as promoting some neighborhood unity. Other fun things to do include visiting art and history museums, trying different foods in one of the many locally owned restaurants, or going on a shopping exploration from one era to another.
