Old City
About Old City
Interested in big nights on Thursdays? The Old City district in northeast Philly is the main center for historic preservation but stays upbeat with things like widely advertised Thursday happy hours! Old City is lined with history, charming local shops and famous dining. The liberty bell, independence hall and the home of Betsy Ross are just a few of the major sites to see during the day. Tours are offered regularly on a daily basis, but don?t start too late because there are a lot of National treasures to discover. In the works is an action plan referred to as the ?Old City Vision? which will reshape the street sides by preserving history and blending in a twist of modern architecture. Authentic souvenirs as well as famous Philly cheese steaks are also a must while in this district. Old City also has an event called first Fridays. On the first Friday of every month, shops and galleries stay open late with offers of wine, cheese, and special exhibits. Strolling underneath the streetlights on bona fide brick sidewalks is a great way to spend a relaxing evening in Philadelphia.
